Fountain Hills Marine Corps League (FHMCL) Detachment #1439’s  officers recently met with Brad Bridwell, a friend of our Chaplain Bob Frost, who shared with us the needs of veterans who live at Victory Place, in Phoenix, AZ.  At this meeting, the Detachment members learned of the many needs of the facility.

Victory Place is a 243-bed facility in Phoenix for homeless veterans.   The majority are living in the permanent housing with 40 currently in their transitional housing.  The Carl T. Hayden Veterans Affairs Hospital in Phoenix provides meals daily to the residents and Community Bridges of Phoenix,(CBI), provides a combination of education, therapy, housing, medications, peer support, inspiration, hope and other supportive services.

The FHMCL’s Trustee Committee voted to purchase 40+ care packages, consisting of toiletries, hygiene items, snacks, water bottles and various other items.  A local small business owner, Ono Donahue, donated 40 + of her beautiful handmade masks to include in these packages.

Individuals and businesses interested in making a difference to veterans of Victory Place may donate toiletries, hygiene items, furniture, much needed kitchen utensils and cooking/baking pots and pans, dishes and small appliances.  For additional information on this program or how best to donate, please contact Jerica Holcombe, Property Manager of Victory Place at 602.243.2774 (office), 832.420.4390 (cell phone) or jholcombe@cantwell-anderson.com.

Our Color Guard was awarded 1st Place at the Arizona State Convention/Competition and will now represent the State of Arizona at the National Competition.  We will be competing on Friday, August 24th in two categories: "Advancing & Retrieving the Colors" and the "Military Class".  On Sunday, August 26th we will be marching in the Parade.
